Homemade protein treatments your hair will love

Your hair goes through constant styling every day and battles environmental pollution. It deserves to be pampered and taken care of at the end of a long, tiring routine.

Hair fibers are made up of proteins and the best way to get your hair glowing again is to get a protein treatment for your locks. Proteins make your hair stronger and smoother. Such treatments, however, are expensive. The solution to this is homemade protein treatments, which are not only way lighter on the wallet and composed of natural ingredients but are just as effective as salon treatments.

If your hair is feeling battered and bruised, here are 2 easy homemade protein treatments for you:

Egg Mask:

Egg is one of the best sources of protein for your hair. The egg yolk is full of fat and protein both of which are extremely essential for moisturizing. The white is rich in enzymes which engulf bacteria; these enzymes cleanse your scalp and hair.

A full egg should be used for normal to dry hair, but for oily hair and scalp, whites should be used. Egg mixed with ingredients full of protein can be applied to the hair. This treatment should be used every two weeks or monthly for best results. Take one egg or two according to the length and thickness of your hair. Beat till it is frothy and spread it through your hair and apply it on your scalp. After applying this all over your head, cover it with a shower cap and keep it on for about 20 minutes.

Wash your hair with cold water and shampoo. Add a few drops of lemon juice to kill the smell – c’mon, that’s the only nasty thing you’re up against.

Yoghurt:

Lactic acid gently cleanses hair and fat moisturizes it. A mixture of egg and yoghurt can make your hair soft and can keep it moisturized. Just apply 3 tbsp sour cream or yogurt into your hair and massage it. Let your hair rest for 20 minutes. Afterwards – rinse and shampoo hair. Weekly application of this will give your hair that desired va-va-voom quality.

Try both of these out – alternate and see which one works best for you. Don’t forget to thank Mother Nature and us if you like the results.
